IBT has added the Adyghe translation of the Old Testament book of Proverbs to our long list of publications. The Adyghe language is spoken in the northwestern part of the Caucasus area of Russia by about 117,000 people, who are closely related to the Kabardian and Cherkess peoples and together with them make up the Circassian ethnic group.

Proverbs (called "Wise Words" in Adyghe) is the tenth book of the Old Testament to be translated into Adyghe. Previous IBT publications in Adyghe include the New Testament (1991), 1-2 Samuel (2002), Genesis (2005), Ruth/Esther/Jonah (2006), Psalms (2007), and 1-2 Kings (2009). Our hope is that with this publication of Proverbs in their native language, the Adyghe people will better be able: "To know wisdom and instruction, to discern the sayings of understanding, to receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity …" (Proverbs 1:2-3)
