The Institute for Bible Translation (IBT) has released a new publication — the book of Daniel (chapters 1–6) in the Karachay language. The Karachay text is given with a parallel Russian and English translation on each page. This is the second Old Testament portion published as part of IBT's Bible translation project into Karachay, following the 2022 edition of the book of Jonah. 

The Karachays live primarily in the mountains and foothills of Karachay-Cherkessia in southern Russia, as well as in the Stavropol region. The Karachay language belongs to the Kipchak branch of the Turkic language family. The total number of speakers in Russia, according to the 2021 RF Census, is about 275,000 people.

The first six chapters of Daniel contain well-known narratives such as "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the Fiery Furnace", "The Writing on the Wall" and “Daniel in the Lion’s Den”. This is why these chapters were chosen for the initial Daniel publication. The book’s later chapters, which contain primarily prophecies and visions, will be published in the future.

The initial print run of this edition is 500 copies. The text is accompanied by black-and-white illustrations.
